36th NAHA Marathon Overview of COVID-19 Infection Prevention Countermeasure

In order to hold this event securely and safely, we will implement prevention measures for COVID-19 Infection (below, COVID-19) based on the Guidance on Holding Road Races provided by the Japan Association of Athletics Federations. Please note the following points when you apply.
The event will be held under the presumption that the vaccine and test package system announced on November 19, 2021 will apply.

Depending on the future infection situation, countermeasures may be eased or changed.

1 Pledge items for infection countermeasures

  1. Participants understand the event infection prevention countermeasures and event holding criteria, as well as the event’s handling of personal information.
  2. Participants will withdraw their participation in the following cases.
    1. If from November 13 they test positive from a PCR test or antigen test.
    2. If from November 20 they have been to a country or region that the government restricts entry to Japan from, or requires an observation period after entering Japan, or if they are a close contact of a person who has been to such places.
    3. If from November 20 they have been determined to be a close contact by a health center, and received a standby request from a government institution.
    4. If from November 20 family members living with them, or acquaintances close to them, are suspected of being infected.
    5. If from November 27 they have symptoms that apply to the items on the health management check system (sheet), or if they have a fever (37.5 ℃ or more) or have symptoms of infection on the day of the event.
    *Please note that their registration fee will not be refunded even if they withdraw due to the above cases.
  3. If a COVID-19 infection is detected after the event ends by December 18, 2022, the participants will report it to the event organizer and cooperate with investigations by municipalities and health centers.
  4. If any participant who is infected with the COVID-19 is found after the end of the event, all participants will cooperate in identifying the infection route.

2 Criteria for holding the event

Based on guidance from the Japan Association of Athletics Federations, we will consider whether or not the event should be held if the following criteria are met.

  1. Criteria for holding the event
    1. There should be no State of Emergency, pre-emergency measures, or semi-state of emergency.
      (However, event holding will be considered in cases that the government's requests do not include cancellation or refraining from holding the event)
    2. Approval from relevant municipalities for holding the event
      The cities and towns that make up the course should be well informed about the event being held, and their consent should be obtained.
    3. Construction of first-aid and management systems necessary for holding the event Staff, volunteers, and race officials who are necessary for medical care and emergency systems for COVID-19 infection, as well as management, should be secured.
    4. Besides the above conditions, if cancellation is deemed appropriate judging from the infection situation
  2. If the event is cancelled due to the impact from COVID-19
    If the event is cancelled, an online marathon event will NOT be held instead.
    In addition, the right to appear at the next event, or further events, is not granted in principle.
    Regarding the registration fee, we will refund money after considering the costs incurred and deciding the refund amount.

3 Participation conditions

Proofs corresponding to either (2) or (3) must be submitted when at the reception for runners on the day before the event.
Runners must bear the costs of proofs themselves, separately from the registration fee.

  1. Participants who are healthy, regardless of nationality. However, participants are limited to those 16 years of age or older (on the event day)
  2. Participants should have been vaccinated against the COVID-19
  3. Participants should have a negative result from a PCR test or Quantitative antigen test within 3 days of the event day (from December 1)

* Participants who are 65 years old or older, or who have underlying conditions, should be aware that there is a higher risk of severe symptoms from the COVID-19 infection. Please participate with this in mind.

4 Runner participation rules

[Until the event day]

  1. Comply with basic countermeasures for the COVID-19 infection, including hand washing, hand finger disinfecting, and mask wearing. Strive to maintain your health.
  2. From 1 week before the event, please record the results of your health check to the designated health management check system.
  3. We suggest using the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare's COVID-19 contact-confirmation app, COCOA.

[Reception for Runners]

  1. Representatives are not allowed at reception. Participants themselves must go to reception. (We will confirm your identity with your identification cards.)
  2. We measure your body temperature at the reception venue entrance. If you have a temperature of 37.5 ℃ or more, you will be refused to participate in the event. In addition, you will be refused entry to the venue.
  3. At the venue entrance, please submit the record you entered into the health management check system.
    If you do not submit the record, or if you lie on your record, you will not be allowed to participate.
  4. If you have symptoms corresponding to the items in the health management check system, you will not be allowed to participate in the event. In addition, you will be refused entry to the venue.
  5. In order to avoid crowding at the reception area, we limit entry to the venue. Please follow staff instructions when you enter.
  6. Please thoroughly follow infection countermeasures, including wearing a mask in the venue, keeping distance from other participants, and refraining from conversation.

[Event day]

*When participating in the event

  1. If you have symptoms that apply to the items on the health management check system (sheet), you will not be allowed to participate in the event.
  2. We will check body temperature and place finger disinfecting in the temporary parking lot and nearby the venue. If you are confirmed to have a fever of 37.5 ℃ or more, regardless of whether it is a COVID-19 infection, you will not be allowed to participate in the event.
  3. Participants who already taken their temperature will be handed a wristband. Please wear this on your wrist. Please note that if you do not have a wrist band, you will not be allowed to enter the starting block.
  4. For infection countermeasures, please take home your trash and masks.

*Lining up at start time

  1. In order to avoid crowding when lining up, keep a set distance from other runners, wear a mask and refrain from conversation.

*During the race

  1. During the race, we do not mind if you remove your mask based on your own judgment. However, please carry your removed mask, and always wear the mask outside of race time (at bathrooms on the course, first-aid stations, accommodation buses, etc.).
  2. During the race, please keep as much space as possible between you and other participants, and cooperate in having a "silent race."
  3. We will have disinfectant alcohol in front of water stations and bathrooms, so please disinfect your fingers there.
  4. Water, sports drinks, and supplementary foods provided at water stations are limited. Please prepare your own nutritional supplementary foods and drinks if necessary.

*After the race

  1. When you have caught your breath after the race, please wear your mask.
  2. We provide completion medals, drinks, etc. in a way that reduces contact as much as possible.
  3. In order to avoid crowding when distributing completion certificates, they will not be issued on paper.
    Please download the certificates from our website.
  4. For infection countermeasures, please take home your trash and masks.

*After the event

  1. Until December 18, 2022 (Sunday), 2 weeks after the event ends, please record your health in the health management check system.
  2. If you test positive by December 18, 2022 (Sunday), please report it to the organizer.

5 Handling of personal information

For COVID-19 infection prevention, if a government institution requests the submission of personal information, including the health management check system, we may submit the personal information in an appropriate manner to the government institution that made the request.

6 Other

  1. We request that you refrain from cheering on the sidelines (including loud voices, high-fives, and providing drinks and food).
  2. The opening ceremony, awards ceremony, and other events may be cancelled or reduced in scale.
  3. We enact entry restrictions so that family, acquaintances, etc., can NOT enter the event venue.
  4. The insurance that the organizer has enrolled in for this event does NOT cover the COVID-19 infection.
